Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a session with Shruti Shah Photography?

Drop me an email – info@shrutishahphotography.co.uk or call on 07956 154 825 or go to the Contact Us page.

Where is your studio based?

My studio is in Pinner, Middlesex. It is located in my home so you are in a relaxed environment. I also offer on location shoots within 15 miles of the HA5 postcode for an additional £50.00 fee.

My studio has a seamless white background to create images to show off your children and family at their best.

How long will the portrait session last?

All sessions last between one to two hours, with the exception of Newborn and Babies under 6 months sessions, which can take longer.

How much does a session cost?

Session fees start from £75.00. All session fees are payable after booking your appointment. Sessions cannot take place unless the full fee has been paid in advance.

What happens at the pre-consultation?

Great portraits begin with a great relationship – the pre-consultation is for us to get to know each other. We discuss your goals for the portrait session. We talk about what type of wall display you are looking for in your home, or just prints with digital files. We consider the style of your home, so I can advise you on best products that would suit it. I would get to better understand who I am taking photos of. I would like to get to know the children’s likes and dislikes, favourite toys they like to help make it an enjoyable photo experience for all. I will give you advice on what to wear, and how to prepare for the photo shoot. Most importantly, we book your photo session to begin your journey for me to design portrait art for you to cherish forever.

What do we need to bring?

Bring along the children’s favourite toys and any props you would like to include in the photo session. Please read the welcome guide once you have booked your session for further information.

What happens if my child is ill?

If your child is ill, then please let me know as soon as possible and we can postpone your session. I wouldn’t dream of forcing a sick child to have a photo session, as this would be miserable for everyone involved. It’s much better to wait until they are feeling better and we can all have an amazing time taking your pictures.

What should we wear?

Simple, plain-coloured clothes tend to work best, as well as clothes with a subtle pattern. It’s best to avoid bold stripes and checks as these don’t work well in pictures. Try not to have half the family dressed in white and the other half in black as the contrast in the images can be distracting. We also do not recommend all the children wear the same clothes. Try a similar colour palate for all. I have a board of ideas on Pinterest for you to draw inspiration from.

Are you able to remove imperfections from the images?

I will create beautiful images of your family and the little ones. Removing the little spots and scratches little ones get occasionally is not a problem.

How many images will we be able to choose from?

I pride myself on creating a variety of images that are of an incredibly high standard. On average, I will present you with 20 to 30 images to choose from.

How do I choose and order my pictures?

We can arrange a viewing session in person. Together we will select the best images and products for you to enjoy in your home. I will guide you through the process of creating the most appropriate wall display for your home.

Who should come to the viewing ordering appointment?

This is the time to decide on which images you would like to be created as a wall art, or narrow down a selection of images for album design, or a folio box of prints with digital files. All decision makers must attend the viewing appointment.

Who has the copyright to the images?

Shruti Shah Photography owns the copyrights to all images taken by the Photographer. You will be given a print release license with your digital files to reproduce the images for your personal use only, or to give to family and friends. You are not permitted to enter the pictures into any competitions, or to sell them onto third parties such as stock libraries.

Why is it so expensive?

Quality, custom photography by a specially-trained portrait artist takes an enormous amount of time and creative commitment. We are priced in order to continue the premier service we provide to our clients. As an analogy, there are discount stores, department stores and boutiques. We are the ‘boutique’ of photography studios with a fine art product and service that comes with this business model.
